VET Programs for Marist Regional College
From 2013 to 2017 Outside the Square Solutions worked in collaboration with Marist Regional College to deliver a variety of VET programs.
Supported by Skills Tasmania, Outside the Square Solutions is able to provide Careers Advice to Jobseekers who have been made redundant or who have lost their job due to business closure or have been let go.
Rapid Response funding can be used to pay for training (up to $2,500) that will help you find a new job. Funding can also be used for career advice, to help you decide on the best training for you. Through Rapid Response, you can get help to pay for nationally recognised qualifications.
OTSS Youth Works Program
OTSS operated a youth program in Ulverstone to assist youth who were disengaged from mainstream school and employment. This program provided a pathway to a more constructive lifestyle and avenue to learn practical educational, work and life skills.
Youth Works commenced July 30th 2012, and completed on June 30th 2013. Youth Works was generously supported by the Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and Central Coast Council and provided participants aged 14-19 with training in workplace practices and horticulture
Cradle Coast Authority
Throughout 2010 to 2013 OTSS designed, delivered and co-ordinated 'Healthy Communities' Programs for the Cradle Coast Authority within Council regions across the NW & West Coast of Tasmania.
The Programs aim to educate people not in the paid work-force in relation to health, nutrition, diet and exercise, along with providing them with certificated training covering employability and job seeking skills, time management, OH&S, first aid, budgeting, goal setting and cooking skills. OTSS continues to deliver its tailored programs with a specific emphasis on Healthy Lifestyles.
Burnie Coffee House
The Burnie Coffee House is a not-for-profit initiative which provides work experience opportunities for local Jobseekers undertaking hospitality and tourism qualifications. Our concept is unique in Tasmania and is focused on skilling local jobseekers with nationally recognised qualifications and helping build their confidence and work skills so that they can enter the workforce as job-ready.
The Burnie Coffee House is supported by our partners, Innovative Program Solutions Limited, a not for profit company, and Outside the Square Solutions, a nationally registered training organisation based right here in Burnie. We also have tremendous support from a host of local businesses who are listed on our window of supporters.
The Burnie Coffee House receives no Government funding.
With unemployment extremely high in our region we made the conscious decision that we wanted to be part of the solution and invest into our own local community.
We believe the work experience and qualifications local jobseekers can secure through their involvement at The Burnie Coffee House that we are assisting the North West Tourism and Hospitality Industry by delivering the industry job-ready candidates.
One of our goals is to identify, train, skill and place jobseekers in the hospitality and tourism industry.
This we will do with the support of Job Service Australia providers.
